The North East Branch of the MMOC were asked to host the Northern Regional Rally for Area One this year - and the event took place on the weekend 21/22 May.

Camping was available at a site at "The Countryman" pub in Bolam with entertainment arranged in the pub for the Saturday night.

Most of the people camping opted to go for a drive on the Saturday afternoon to Barnard Castle and Egglestone Hall.  The entertainment on the Saturday evening was provided by "Darlington and Stockton Ukelele Express", who played a great selection of music. There was also a pie and pea supper, bingo and a raffle to raise funds for our nominated charity.  The pub also very kindly donated a couple of prizes for our raffle to help swell funds for the charity.

The rally on the Sunday was held at "Locomotion, The National Railway Museum at Shildon".  It poured down early in the day but then remained fine but very, very windy - so windy in fact that we could not put up  the event shelter.

Despite the weather we had 34 moggies in attendance plus 3 other classics, quite a good turnout.

Brian Butler, our Membership Secretary, had donated a fabulous cake for us to raffle, which he had made and decorated.  He also assisted with the judging of the cars.

"Tom Roy" attended the rally providing an opportunity for some to purchase spares.  He was also kind enough to donate raffle prizes to our club.

Trophies were presented by Sue Akrill, Chair of the Bridlington and Wolds Branch and Area One Liaison Officer.  Categories and winners as follows:

2 Door Saloon - Malcolm Bainbridge

4 Door Saloon - George Heath

Convertible - Chris Jarvis

Traveller - Chris & Edgar Summa

 LCV Van - Frank Miller

 Modified/Custom - Mike Dean

 Working Minor - Arthur Henderson

Best Other Classic - Kenneth James

Thanks to everyone who supported the event, especially to those from other branches who travelled some distance to attend.
